New Protection Areas for birds

The Cyprus government has designated 7 new Special Protection Areas(SPAs) for birds, taking an important step towards proper implementation of the EU's bird protection law. These sites, part of the Natura 2000 programme, a modern conservation concept, now bring the number up to 26 in Cyprus, with 3 more still to be designated.
